Gas Lift
General Objectives:
The aim of this module is to familiarize participants in gas lift operations. The course will include the purpose of gas lift, the safe operation of the gas lift system, gas lift flow control, gas lift system components, gas quality control, chemical additions, start up and shut down, alarms and trips.
Specific Objectives:
At the end of training the trainees will be able to:
- Describe the purpose of a gas lift manifold;
- State from where the gas in the gas lift manifold comes;
- Explain why each well has its own choke and flow recorder;
- List chemicals used in the gas lift process;
- Explain why gas lift is used in wells;
- Define the terms “dry gas” and gas “dew point”;
- Explain why it is important to dry the gas used in the gas lift process;
- List the main parts of the gas lift process;
- Identify the valve line up for starting gas lift;
- Describe how gas lift flow is adjusted;
- Describe how the gas used in the gas lift process is measured;
- Describe how the lift gas flow rate is calculated;
- Develop gas lift optimization skills;
- Develop troubleshooting and cause & effects analysis.
