PFD & P&ID and Cause Effect Chart
General Objectives:
The aim of this subject is to familiarize the participants with the process drawings in order to provide them with the ability to read and understand PFD´s, P&ID´s and a cause effect charts. Participants will also be able to draw simple process flow schematic using relevant symbols and codes. The contents will cover the symbology and detailed analysis of the different process drawings using examples of typical oil & gas production installations.
Specific Objectives:
At the end of training the trainees will be able to:
- Interpret symbols, cods and other information detailed on process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs);
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic engineering standards utilized on PFDs and P&IDs;
- Draw a simple process flow schematic using relevant symbols and codes;
- Detail the design criteria and objectives expected from the information provided on a PFD;
- Describe the equipment used to achieve the objectives from the information provided on a P&ID;
- Interpret the control process of equipment from the information provided on a P&ID;
- Read and understand the equipment affected when the alarm is activated.
